What do you mean by “people who care”? Well, caring at Family Express takes several different forms.
First, it means our people care about other people. Every potential Family Express associate goes through a rigorous screening process that results in our hiring just 1 out of every 50 applicants. What is it that we’re looking for? Not the ability to run a cash register or clean a bathroom (though everyone from our CEO to our newest sales associate learns those things along the way) but a genuine interest in building relationships with other people. We hire people that have an innate ability to expand our reach by building relationships with everyone they come in contact with, from customers to co-workers to delivery drivers and beyond.
Second, it means our people care about themselves. People that have goals, both personal and professional. People that are interested in constant improvement. At Family Express you’ll find story after story of associates that began where everyone begins – in the store – who have worked their way up to Store Manager, Field Consultant, Marketing support staff, Accounting, and the list goes on. Even those that don’t have aspirations to be the next CEO, show their care for themselves by spending free time in our state of the art workout facility or taking advantage of our fantastic tuition reimbursement program.
Finally, it means people that care about their communities. Our associates lead the charge in serving the communities where we operate. From our hometown of Valparaiso to LaPorte to Lafayette and everywhere in between, you’ll find our people embedded in community organizations. They bake cookies to send to troops overseas, raise money for Special Olympics through the Polar Plunge, run 5k’s, donate to Red Cross workers during weather emergencies and support countless other people and organizations.
